One MarkitSERV platform ► one buy-side solution Our solutions help clients reduce operational risk and streamline operations. With MarkitSERV, buy-side firms can:
- Electronically deliver allocations to counterparties.
Clients who allocate across multiple funds often trade with their counterparties on a block level and then communicate the specific funds involved via spreadsheets or other outside processes. MarkitSERV can help you automate the allocation delivery process – and drive the details directly into your counterparties’ front office systems to minimize mis-bookings and delays in the confirmation process. - Select the type of confirmation process your firm prefers.
Clients vary on complexity, internal control processes and technology. Based on your specific requirements, you have the flexibility to choose how you electronically confirm trades. You can submit and compare internal trade records with counterparty details via Trade Manager or review counterparty records posted via the MarkitSERV Portal Web site. - Serve both electronically eligible and “paper” trades in a single location.
Clients often trade a variety of derivative types – from vanilla interest rates to bespoke equity derivatives. Trade Manager offers electronic workflow for “paper” trades in the same place as all your STP trades. With a single login and suite of confirmation tools, you can track and report on all OTC confirmation activity to better understand your operational risk. - Manage novations processing.
Industry initiatives are driving consent equal to confirmation for both credit and rates. MarkitSERV’s Credit Novation Consent launches the consent process and adheres to upcoming confirmation requirements. Today, MarkitWire also offers a single-step workflow for novations in rates. - Clear trades across multiple clearinghouses with one platform.
Regulators are actively engaging the derivatives industry to centrally clear rates and credit trades to reduce risk and provide greater transparency in the OTC market. Clients face various choices based on asset class, preferred clearing model and platform options. MarkitSERV reduces the complexity by offering you a single service provider to manage your connectivity and workflow options in a consistent manner. We know that you will work with more than one central counterparty clearer – but MarkitSERV can make that a seamless part of your operational toolsets to combine clearing, confirmation and reconciliation in one place. - Automate your position reconciliations and enhance dispute resolution to proactively minimize exposure.
Since the credit crisis, more emphasis has been placed on proactive position reconciliation, investigation of mark-to-market differences and formalized dispute processes. With MarkitSERV PortRec, you can review your position economics against your counterparties daily to identify economic issues and significant valuation differences. You can also access confirmation details directly for any deal to more quickly validate economics or understand disputes already under review in your firm. Moreover, you can even request independent valuations from Markit for audit requirements.

| MarkitSERV recognizes that you need operational solutions which span your post-trade processes – and don’t want extensive technology investments. MarkitSERV offers tools to get you through that process – allocate, confirm, novate, clear, reconcile and dispute. |
Connection options Clients can connect to MarkitSERV services in a variety of ways.
- To review your counterparties’ trades, the MarkitSERV Portal provides a Web-based viewer to review, dispute or affirm trade details.
- To match your trade economics (for confirmation/clearing) or position and valuation details, you can upload CSV or XLS files via the Web, email or MarkitSERV’s FTP server.
- To connect via real-time APIs, certain services are available via FpML today – and MarkitSERV is looking to extend connectivity options for new industry initiatives in 2010.
